Compliance Manager

Our Client, a NYC based Owner and full service management and brokerage firm of luxury residential properties, is looking for a Residential Compliance Manager with at least 5 years’ experience in multifamily rental housing. Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, including demonstrated ability to work well within a corporate environment is required.

Functions:

Monitoring, reporting and management of compliance requirements for large residential portfolio and several commercial NY based buildings.

  • Develop and update company database as regulatory agencies impose new compliance rules.
  • Inform residential/commercial management team about new regulations, outline essential obligations for compliance, train and support residential management staff in processes necessary to achieve compliance.
  • Manage critical milestones (e.g. elevator inspections, fire department permits, benchmarking) including performing proper filings with government agencies.

·         Knowledge of: Rent stabilization, Statutes, Riders, Rent regulation, Valuations, Building registrations, Paint notices & Window guard notices

Experience:

Knowledge of New York City regulations, laws and programs (including but not limited to DOB, DEP, ECB, FDNY, Landmarks Preservation Commission)
Interface with executive management to advise of new and changing regulatory risks.
Manage and respond to all regulatory, City and state compliance protocols.
Works closely with property managers and project managers

Drafts advisory compliance memoranda, bulletins, training materials, policies and procedures covering new and existing laws and regulations affecting the portfolio and maintains accessible records of such materials.
Tracks changes in city and state laws and regulations, establishes applicable policies and procedures and implements changes to existing procedures

Qualifications:

·         Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing, at all levels of the organization

  • Minimum 5 years residential real estate compliance management experience.

·         Excellent MS Office Suite skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Project) & Yardi a plus

·         Prior experience managing database systems.
